Liebe Freunden des „Fundbueros“,
Wir hoffen, dass Sie ein wunderschönes Weihnachten hatten und dass Sie die Jahresendfeste gut überstanden haben. Das Fundbuero beginnt das neue Jahr mit Veranstaltungen an beiden Seiten des Atlantiks – in unserer Zentrale in Leipzig und bei dem „German American Institute“ in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Am Mittwoch den 12.1. laden wir Sie in unsere Leipziger Zentrale in die Georg-Schwarz-Str. 14 ein — „Schönheit, Sex und Satire: Ein Abend mit dem Filmemacher Helmut Pöschel“.
1970 hat Helmut Pöschel ein Filmstudio in Würchwitz gegründet. Damals musste das Studio noch den Beinamen “FDJ-Filmstudio” tragen. Gedreht wurden satirische Kurzfilme, Dokumentarfilme und auch erotische Filme. Das Filmstudio hat sowohl an nationalen als auch an internationalen Wettbewerben teilgenommen und gewann zweimal Silber bei der UNICA. Helmut Pöschel wird über seine Erfahrungen und Hobbyfilme in der DDR sprechen und Beispiele seiner damaligen Arbeit zeigen.
Einlass ist ab 18:30 und Veranstaltung beginnt ab 19:00.
Am Freitag den 14.1. werde ich einen Vortrag über die Arbeit des „Fundbueros“ mit der DDR-Geschichte geben. Dieser Vortrag ist Teil einer monatelang Ausstellung bei dem „German American Institute“ in St. Paul, Minnesota. Die Ausstellung stellt eine kurze Geschichte des „Fundbueros“ vor und schließt Beispiele vergangener Projekte und Veranstaltungen sowie Gegenstände aus unserem Archiv ein. Die Ausstellung läuft vom 3.1. bis 29.1. in dem Ballsaal des GAIs bei 301 Summit St.; St. Paul, MN; 55102.

Dear Friends of Das Fundbuero,
Here’s hoping that you had a wonderful holiday season and are recovering from the year-end festivities. Das Fundbuero starts off the New Year with events on both sides of the Atlantic – in our home office in Leipzig and at the German American Institute in St. Paul, Minnesota.
On Wednesday January 12th, join us at the Leipzig office on Georg-Schwarz-Str. for “Schönheit, Sex and Satire: An Evening with the Filmmaker Helmut Pöschel.” Pöschel founded the Filmstudio Würchwitz, originally called the FDJ Filmstudio, in 1970. Since then he has been making satirical short films and documentaries, as well erotic films. In its current incarnation, the studio has participated in numerous international film festivals, winning the silver medal at UNICA. Pöschel will speak about his experiences as well as hobby filmmaking in general during the GDR and will show examples of his work from the time. Doors open at 6:30, and the talk starts at 7:00.
From 7-8 PM on Friday, January 14th, I will be discussing Das Fundbuero’s work with East German history as part of a month-long exhibition at the German American Institute in St. Paul, Minnesota. The exhibition presents a brief history of Das Fundbuero and includes examples of past projects and events and materials from our archive. This is a great opportunity for those in the Twin Cities to learn more about the project, as materials will be available in English. The exhibition runs January 3rd-29th in the ballroom of the GAI at 301 Summit Ave, St. Paul, MN 55102.
