Liebe Freunde des „Fundbueros“,
unser Abend mit dem Filmemacher Helmut Pöschel war sehr erfolgreich. Für Sie, die wie ich nicht in Leipzig sein konnten, haben wir Fotos auf unseren Blog gestellt. Vielen Dank an unseren Gast, dass er seine Filme – und die Technik, um sie zu zeigen – von Würchwitz geschleppt hat. Herr Pöschel hat auch die Art der Milbenkäse– Herstellung wiederbelebt. Vielleicht findet dazu in der Zukunft eine weitere Veranstaltung statt.
Am Mittwoch, dem 9.2., wenden wir uns mit ernsteren Blick auf die Immigration während der DDR. Die Mehrheit der Immigranten sind als GastarbeiterInnen unter anderem aus Vietnam, Polen, Mosambik und Kuba gekommen und nur für ein paar Jahre (je nach Länge des Arbeitsvertrages) geblieben. Wie gestaltete sich deren Leben auf Zeit in der DDR? Wie kamen sie mit der kulturellen Unterschiede und anderen Herausforderungen klar? Nebst einem kurzen Hintergrund-Präsentation unserer Achivarin Peggy Freund wird Marta Anna Kaiser ihre ganz persönlichen Erfahrungen erzählen. Wir werden auch Ihre Geschichten über GastarbeiterInnen und andere ImmigrantInnen, die Sie damals kennengelernt haben, sammeln. Einlass ist ab 18:30 und geht’s los ab 19 Uhr. Wir freuen uns auf Ihren Besuch.
Schließlich sind wir beim „Fundbuero“ sehr erfreut bekanntgeben zu dürfen, dass die Kulturstiftung des Freistaates Sachen uns die beantragten Fördermittel zugesprochen hat, um damit die erste 6 Veranstaltungen des Jahres 2011 zu unterstützen. Die Förderung ist mit einer Aufgabe verbunden: wir müssen ihre Fördermittel ein zu eins angleichen. Mit diesem Gedanken im Kopf, planen wir unsere erste Spendensammlung für Das Fundbuero. In den kommenden Wochen schicken wir Ihnen mehre Information hierfür zu, wie Sie uns helfen können, unser Ziel zu erreichen.

Dear Friends of Das Fundbuero,
Our film evening with director Helmut Pöschel was a big success. For those of you who, like me, couldn’t be in Leipzig, there are photos from the evening on the blog. Many thanks go to our presenter for bringing his work (and the equipment to show it) all the way from Würchwitz. Herr Pöschel has also worked to revive the art of making Milbenkäse, so perhaps there’ll be another event with him in the future?
Next Wednesday, February 9th we turn more serious with a look at immigration during the GDR. The largest group of immigrants came through “guest worker” programs to fill vacancies in the workforce. The majority came from Vietnam, Poland, Mozambique and Cuba and stayed for only a few years. What kind of lives did they have in the GDR? How did they cope with the cultural differences and other challenges? Along with a short background presentation from our Archivarin, Peggy Freund, Marta Anna Kaiser will be present to discuss her personal experiences as an immigrant from Poland. We will also be collecting your stories about the experiences of guest workers and other immigrants. Doors open at 6:30, and the event starts at 7. We hope to see you there!
Finally, we at Das Fundbuero are very happy to announce that the Cultural Foundation of the State of Saxony has awarded us a grant to support the first six months of events in 2011. The grant also comes with a challenge, as we must match the money that they are giving 1 to 1. With this in mind, we are planning our first ever public fundraiser for Das Fundbuero. Stay tuned for details in the coming weeks about how you can help us reach our goal.
